Dennis brings over 15 years of consumer products and consulting experience as the Founder and Chairman of Breakaway. His expertise ranges from marketing and strategy to product and business development. As the former Chief Marketing Officer of Reebok International, Dennis established a mission to connect the brand to global youth through sports, music and technology. Prior to joining Reebok, Dennis was a Management Consultant at Ernst and Young LLP. Dennis graduated from Union College and has an MS in Industrial Relations from Cornell University.
Nina is a member of Breakaway’s Brand Activation team. Her work revolves around finding cool, compelling and relevant stories for our clients and turning them into content -- be it an Instagram campaign, blog article or video series. Prior to Breakaway, Nina worked at MIT, where she launched and grew the MIT Museum’s social media presence, and at Amory Group, where she wrote and produced content for all digital channels. Outside of work, you can find Nina playing soccer and rabble rousing in the People's Republic of Cambridge. She graduated from Wesleyan University with a degree in anthropology.
Chaz leads the investment advisory practice at Breakaway. Previously, Chaz served as founder and CEO of RockHopper Group, LLC, a holding company that acquired and developed enthusiast apparel brands in the outdoor and lifestyle space. Prior to RockHopper, Chaz was an investment banker at Adams Harkness and Roberston Stephens. Chaz has a proven track record investing in, structuring, and executing public and private financings for emerging growth and middle market companies. He has a BS in economics from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from Harvard. Chaz served five years as an officer in the US Navy with a focus on diving and deep-sea salvage operations.
As a Brand Manager, Jenna manages the daily client activities and relationships for several Breakaway accounts, as well as supports the overall Brand Management team. Prior to Breakaway, Jenna spent four years with the Cleveland Browns. While she was patiently waiting to get the look from coaching to hit the field, she was managing national and local sponsorship accounts across various industries, including apparel, hospitality, insurance, legal services & technology. She was responsible for the activation, renewal and growth of these partnerships. Jenna is a native Long Islander and graduated from Quinnipiac University with a BA in Communications.
John has enjoyed a successful career in venture capital and executive leadership. As Co-Founder and Managing Director of Raptor Consumer Partners and as Founding Partner at the Highland Consumer Fund, John has worked with brands such as Pinkberry, Spartan Race, and CitySports. With a strong passion for entrepreneurship, he has also served as Chairman and CEO of 3 early stage companies. While his business ventures span the consumer sector, John has a particular interest in health, wellness, sports and fitness. Prior to joining the Highland Consumer Fund, John was VP at Summit Partners, a private equity and venture capital firm. John received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his M.B.A. from Babson College.
Scott is a member of the investment team at Breakaway, where he evaluates investment opportunities and is active in the firm’s advisory practice. Previously, Scott led corporate development initiatives for Escalade, Inc., a publicly traded company that owns 30+ brands in the sporting good and outdoor industry such as STIGA, Bear Archery and Goalrilla. Prior to his role with Escalade, Scott founded and ran a portfolio of brands in the outdoor industry, and worked as a consultant in Deloitte’s Strategy & Operations practice. Scott earned his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Liam is a Designer and a 5-tool player that is capable of tackling any project thrown his way. Previously, he was a Studio Designer at Crunch Brands, where he began his career after graduating from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University. Liam is a hardcore baller, routinely breaking ankles on courts throughout Boston.
Dan oversees the finance and administrative functions for all three-business units at Breakaway. Previously, Dan worked at the Hancock Agricultural Investment Group where he was most recently Controller and Principal Accounting Officer. Prior to that role, Dan held increasingly senior finance and accounting positions with the Boston Bruins, Bain Capital, Eaton Vance and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Dan earned his undergraduate degree from Suffolk University and an MBA from Babson College.
Bryan brings a diverse range of strategy and innovation experience to Breakaway including financial services, retail, apparel and packaged goods. He started his career at American Express where he led a number of risk-related strategic initiatives and later moved into brand and innovation consulting at Fahrenheit 212. Bryan collaborated with innovation expert Clayton Christensen to help launch Disruptive Strategy with Clayton Christensen, the flagship course of Harvard Business School’s online learning platform. Bryan holds a BS from Clarkson, an MS from Stanford, and an MBA from Harvard. He also attended the school of hard knocks, growing up in Upstate NY where he endured endless winters while rooting for the Buffalo Bills and the Syracuse Orange.
David leads the strategy and talent practices at Breakaway, helping clients uncover growth through insight, branding, product, talent, innovation and marketing. Prior to joining Breakaway, he spent over 20 years building high-growth businesses through product and marketing innovation at adidas, Polo Ralph Lauren, Groove Networks, Hearts On Fire, Reebok, Acclaim Entertainment and SmartPak. David has worked on strategic engagements with over 100 companies of all sizes and growth stages. He proudly mentors teams at TechStars, Bolt, Nike+ Accelerator, MIT Venture Accelerator, Northeastern IDEA, MassChallenge, Seedcamp and is a graduate of the Villanova University School of Business. David is an eternally optimistic Philadelphia Eagles fan.
Liz is a cat herder. As Director of Creative Services, she works to shepherd the work through the internal pipeline from initial client input to final implementation and production. Liz works to ensure the agency is achieving timely completion of client projects while adhering to our high-quality brand standards. Her goal is to bind the account and creative teams together to ultimately produce extraordinary results. Liz started her career in Media Planning at Hill Holliday and PGR Media in Boston before moving to New York to work at Lipman and thelab. There she expanded her experience and knowledge across various disciplines and departments of the agency world. Today she implements best practices in the creative development process and helps maintain sanity within the department. Best of luck, Liz. Best of luck.
Scott oversees all creative development and design at Breakaway. Before joining the company he was the founder of Jones, a Chicago advertising and design firm. Scott was a Group Creative Director of EURO RSCG, Creative Director at J Walter Thompson and VSA Partners, and a writer for DDB and Katsin Loeb/San Francisco. He has worked on everything from IBM to Bud Light and every intellectually positioned brand in between. Scott’s work has been featured in virtually every major award show and industry magazine and has been profiled in the Chicago Tribune and Communication Arts magazine. He is a graduate of the Harvard of Onondaga County - Syracuse University.
Hannah is an experienced brand builder that manages multiple key Breakaway accounts and contributes to new business. Prior to joining Breakaway, Hannah spent time at MullenLowe, 180LA and McCann NY and has had the opportunity to work with a variety of brands including Verizon, JetBlue Airways, ASICS and Dollar Shave Club. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new places and trying out new restaurants. Hannah received a degree in journalism from Ithaca College, which is located on the much cooler side of the hill (See Tim Linberg).
As a Senior Brand Strategist, Brianna works with brands to uncover key consumer insights and translate learnings into brand positioning and strategic growth opportunities. Prior to Breakaway, Brianna spent 8 years at Reebok, working in several roles across Strategy, Brand Management and Consumer Insight functions. Past experience also includes marketing internships with the US Olympic Committee and Princeton Athletic Department. Bri graduated from Princeton with a B.A. in Psychology and received her MBA from Boston University. She is a passionate CrossFitter and surprised we waited until the end of her bio to tell you so.
As a Senior Brand Manager, Jeff oversees the day-to-day client activities and relationships of several key Breakaway accounts. Prior to Breakaway, Jeff served as Director of Athlete Management at Team One Management where he represented several Olympic athletes. Jeff has managed soccer marketing for North America at PUMA and worked on the Titleist and FootJoy accounts at Arnold Worldwide. Jeff graduated from Providence College with a BA in Marketing and was a two-year captain for the men’s soccer team.
Ted leads Breakaway’s marketing group and and business development efforts. Prior to joining Breakaway, Ted spent over 15 years driving integrated marketing initiatives for his own award-winning agency, Crunch Brands. Crunch partnered with both B2B and B2C brands including Sperry Top-Sider, New Balance, Unreal Candy and The Pan-Mass Challenge. Prior to Crunch, Ted worked at Arnold Worldwide, Digitas and Greco Ethridge Group.
Courtney is a Designer at Breakaway, fueled by popcorn and Spotify playlists. Previously she worked with clients in the luxury hospitality and real estate markets, including independent hotels, restaurants, and mixed-use and residential developments. She graduated from Boston University with a BFA in Graphic Design.
Tyavanna is Breakaway’s HR & Billing Manager and brings over five years of management and human resource experience to the company. She received her BS in Communications from Salem State University where she majored in Public Relations and minored in Marketing. Tyavanna works closely with the marketing and activation teams and literally and figuratively holds the keys to everything inside the compay. When she is not covertly fueling the office’s candy addiction, she enjoys hiking, kayaking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Always Perky. Always Smiling. That’s Daisy! Or perhaps it has something to do with the fact that she can only function after having her iced double shot espresso in the morning. Daisy moved to Boston to pursue her professional dreams and is probably the first person ever to voluntarily leave San Diego. Prior to joining Breakaway, Daisy studied Sociology at CSU Northridge in Los Angles and joined LMA Marketing & Advertising in San Diego as a Client Services Coordinator and Account Coordinator. In her role, she helped execute strategic planning for all client campaigns and projects working with clients in the media industry for television advertising, public relations and media research analytics.
