Drizly is an alcohol delivery app. How cool is that? Browse the inventory, fill your basket and have everything delivered in about 30 minutes. Drizly’s technology is amazing and they are at the forefront of the category. The problem is it’s such a killer idea that competitors are springing up everywhere. It’s an arms race now – who can stand out, expand quickly and gain the love and attention of consumers?

Breakaway took an equity position in Drizly and set out to create a brand that was as far from the hipster cocktail weenie competitors as we could get. 

BRAND IDENTITY

We could be like everyone else and create a cocktail glass logo or a type du jour mark. Or we could create a Drizly bear.

Let’s bring back the glory days of cocktailing. Real people. Retro photos. Modern type. A mix of classic and contemporary. Like a great craft cocktail with a twist. Let’s celebrate the joy of drinking.

We sourced family photos from fans of Drizly to create a poster campaign for urban markets to build the brand and drive downloads. 

DIGTIAL ADS

Digital ads were developed to encourage trial and drive users to the site to download the app. 

DELIVERY

Old school varsity jackets were designed emblazoned with the Drizly logo. Orders are delivered in reusable bags that help give the brand recognition well after the driver drops it off.

HANG TAGS

Hang tags on bottles continue the brand tone with photos on one side and offers you might need after a long night of cocktailing on the other.

GRASSROOTS MARKETING

The brand was seeded as it rolled out in new neighborhoods with door-to-door grassroots marketing and free premiums with orders.

BRANDED APPAREL

Hats and t-shirts were designed for delivery drivers and brand ambassadors.
